Hi, I am Ron Smith RN, Director of Nursing with A Forever Recovery. I over see the Medical/Nursing care for the patients that we serve and I find it rewarding to work with such a dedicated Team that is focused on Saving Lives.
As a boy AI became enamored with the military and also developed an interest in the Medical Field. Upon graduating from high school I spent 23 years in the United States Army serving our country. I was trained in Combat Medicine, Orthotics & Prosthetics, Preventive Medicine as well as Environmental medicine. I retired in 2001 and continued my education. As a Registered Nurse I have worked in the Hospital setting, Long Term Care, Assisted Living, Community Health and as an administrator and Adjunct Faulty with Kellogg Community College.
Upon becoming a single parent of 2 daughters I retired from the college and focused on being a good parent. Being unsuccessful at staying retired I returned to the workforce and was invited to join the staff at A Forever Recovery as a staff Nurse eventually being selected as the Director of Nursing. In my position I work closely with the Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, Clinical Director, Medical Director and all staff members. I find great reward in helping others to help themselves and come to the realization that they are a valuable person. I have been a Train the Trainer through the Michigan Department of Nursing and continue as a Certified Instructor in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Health Care Providers.
